Amalfi Coast Hiking Tour
Hike the spectacular Amalfi Coast and the Isle of Capri
Considered by National Geographic as "one of the 50 places you should visit in your lifetime," Italy's Amalfi Coast is a picturesque network of pathways that once served as the lifeline between terraced lands and rural villages. Along our hikes, we enjoy magnificent views above lemon gardens and vineyards set amidst terraced cliffs over the crystal blue sea.
Days 1-2: Arrival in Naples-Tramonti
We're transferred from Naples airport in time for an orientation dinner in the tiny hamlet of Tramonti. The next day we hike from the Tramonti valley to Maiori through lemon groves, terraced vineyards and narrow alleys between ancient stone walls.
Days 3-4: Ravello-Amalfi-Ferriere Valley
After a transfer to and exploration of the Arabic- and Sicilian-influenced village of Ravello, we hike to Amalfi through either the maze of narrow, white-washed alleys of Atrani or through the Valley of the Ancient Mills. The next day brings us to the Ferriere Valley with a landscape of vertical cliffs, small waterfalls, natural springs and groves of chestnut trees.
Days 5-6: The Path of the Gods-Positano-Pompeii-Sorrento
Today's walk offers spectacular views from end to end, starting in Bromerano with its coastline landscapes and famous cliffs of Capri that mark lands end. We arrive in the charming town of Positano with time to explore its labyrinth of alleyways with their colorful bougainvilleas and elegant boutiques. A train ride the next day brings us to our exploration of Pompeii, the world's most captivating Roman excavation.
Days 7-8: Isle of Capri-Transfer to Naples
A morning boat ride delivers us from Sorrento to the Isle of Capri. Here we see some of the architectural highlights before taking the coastal path to the spectacular Faraglioni--three rock stacks jutting from the sea. The afternoon is available to see some of the chic shops or to visit the 14th Century convent of San Giacomo and the Gardens of August. We celebrate our week with a closing dinner at a local farmhouse and depart after breakfast the next morning for Naples.
