Laikipia, Maasai Mara and Serengeti Wildlife Safari

Experience the Wildlife Wonders of Kenya and Tanzania

This 10-day fly-in safari features Kenya's Laikipia highlands and Maasai Mara wildlife sanctuary and the Serengeti plains of northern Tanzania.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Your vehicle will be waiting upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and you will be driven to Fairmont's The Norfolk Hotel. This 5-star hotel is an oasis in bustling Nairobi with its own private tropical gardens--the perfect place to relax and unwind after your long flight and to prepare for your safari ahead!

Days 2-3: Sabuk Lodge in Laikipia

An hour flight from Nairobi and a 30-minute game drive delivers you to Sabuk Lodge where two days of adventure await--bush walking, camel safaris and wildlife viewing! Open-fronted cottages are perched on the side of a river valley overlooking the cascading Ewaso Nyiro River. Northern Laikipia is home to thousands of elephant, greater kudu and the elusive, endangered African Wild Dog. This is a great opportunity to explore and walk close to wildlife guided by magnificent Laikipiak tribesmen. If you wish to camp out for a night under the stars there is a comfortable fly-camp. Visit a colorful Samburu village and be entertained by their dances representing courtship and celebration.

Days 4-6: Speke's Camp in the Maasai Mara

Another flight and game drive take you to Speke's Camp, located along the banks of the Olare Orok River on a private reserve in the Maasai Mara. This is one of the best areas for viewing wildlife in east Africa, especially for the big cats as well as the annual great migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and other plains game. Speke’s Camp has eight comfortable traditional safari tents with en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Unsurpassed game viewing, picnics and sundowners, and the opportunity to embark on an epic walking safari in the Maasai Mara are just some of the highlights of this camp!

Days 7-9: Alex Walker's Serengeti Mobile Camp

In the Serengeti from December to April the focus is on the vast herds of wildebeest gathering for the birthing season--during this time over 400,000 babies are born! The Serengeti South camp is right on the edge of the Southern Plains amongst the umbrella thorn (acacia tree) that marks the plateau overlooking Lake Eyasi. There are ample opportunities to walks from this camp and to interact with the Maasai, Mangati, and Hadzabe bushmen.

Day 10: Flight to Nairobi

The end of your safari approaches after days spent traversing two stunning countries and visiting a variety of destinations--from rolling hills to savannah to acacia bushland.  A vehicle will collect you and drive you to Ndutu airstrip where you will catch a flight to Kilimanjaro airport.
